you should take that as a complement................

or take it as such that these 1000 downloaders were only here to leech and run and could care less about saying thank you. 

in any case, In my opinion thee should be a mechanism in place that when a member/anon downloads a torrent before the torrent can actually be sent user must (option 1) tick a radio button saying thanks (option 2) fill out a small 4line form with comments, thoughts etc.. (option 3) popup/confirm window "by downloading this torrent you are saying thank you" click yes to proceed or no to go back to the home page. 

anyway, personally I think as long as we are a public tracker and people can come here to download with no registration thus no TOS we cant really expect allot in return, we know we will be getting leechers who are only here to take and then run off.

Sorry - I just saw this.  I agree with the 1,000 of downloaders.  I always look before I download and base my decision upon that where there are several choices.  Since h33t has lost our history of the number of downloads (I used to have over 350,000 on some and now 0), a lot of my torrents are NOT being downloaded.  But I still get thanks from other sites that still have the history - and they are private.  Another site that I was a member - the site is gone now - every time I logged in, it remembered what I downloaded and kind of forced me to say good - bad or something.  Good system.

As you can see this is has been a fairly popular torrent... I spent a lot of time pre-cracking/pre-patching it... and not one comment, thank you messge, NOTHING!

I want to make it clear that I AM NOT bitching. I am simply questioning this.
The main reson I upload to H33T is because of the "community" ----- but it's not really so much of a community -- is it?

 only a thousand? i've one with about 700,000 completes (now showing 2 since the reset), the only thanks i got was when i wrote the creator (of the content  ) to thank him for his effort, don't forget - many if not most of your hits might well result from other site/tracker activity

You all raise a very valid point, and i assume all responsibility for my download's from H33T that i have NOT said Thank You. First off the skills you all display in your torrents and content getting them ready before upload AND after is well worth MORE than a simple thank you. However, when i first came to H33T i did say Thank's on most but i didnt really see much of a response elsewhere other than my own,call it crazy but i thought maybe it was started long ago and stopped perhaps? obviously stupidity on my part not asking or checking, but i myself do not have the knowledge to do what you all do so i do sincerely apologize to all uploaders i have not thanked.So far i've downloaded 1 torrent that did not work as described and you are all stellar in my opinion, a community i entirely trust and have no worries of downloading from.So i hereby pledge that from now on "since reading this" that i shall Properly thank all uploaders in their torrents that i download.I do this willingly and with a grateful heart! For some reason I always get stupid errors when I try to comment.  It tells me my numbers and letters don't match the lil picture but it's totally matching.  So i just quit on trying too comment.

I think the main reason Demonoid, Oink.Me, Torrentit, Torrentbox, Bitme, Torrentleech and some of the other sites I've frequented had/have much better thank you ratios is you had to be logged in to browse the torrents & download the torrents.
Yes Demonoid would let you browse but if you were not logged in you could not download the torrents.
Here you are free to browse & download without even having an account and this is nice but it took me a while to figure out there is an extra step needed if you want to comment/thank someone for the work it took to upload the torrent.
IE:people tend to be lazy and you need to make it as easy as possible for them to thank you..if that's what you want them to do.

I learned about file sharing when FTP was the all the rage and torrents were not even invented yet (1998) and that scene was COMPLETELY THANKS driven.
You needed friends to work together to find and get anything...it was very personal and I spent countless hours cruising warez sites and message boards looking for other people that had their own FTP's
With FTP you needed a Username, Password & the correct port # (usually never port 21 on a private one).

So yes torrents are way, way easier to find & download and at the same time so impersonal you really don't need anyone unless you want to get on an invitation only private tracker.....just saying many don't upload and don't know/care how much work that it takes to put up quality stuff!.

To say THANK YOU is polite and shows apreciation to Ulder, but today its very rare, not just in here, but everywehere in the outside world 2.
IMO we THE H33T are big, bold and beautiful and ULders here dont need thank yous only, we need information of quality, we need wishes from dlders, we need to activate people to say something, anything.

How? Is it possible at all, I think not and I'm not for that system they have in demonoid that to DL u need to be signed in. Rather DLers than thank yous.

I only want people to give us FEEDBACK, so that we dont have to go fex. TPB to see if some movie is watchable or not.

For us who dont write in our native language commenting is even more time consuming, but so what tomorrow theres (propably) more time to spend to LEARN SOMETHING NEW!
