Steps for making your movie/video upload

RIPPING YOUR VIDEO

If you already have your video in the format you want to upload, skip the 1st step.

I'm not a movie encoder, so i'm just gonna direct you to the ripping/encoding assets.

1. Ripping your video from DVD.  You can use these tutorials depending on the applications you choose to use.

CD & DVD Movies - Cloning, Ripping, Tools ... EVERYTHING --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,10.0.html

How to convert DVD to avi using DVDFab --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,6486.0.html

RIP DVD TO A 700MB CD IN 10 SUPER SIMPLE STEPS --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,2573.0.html

Basic DVD-Rip Tutorial --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,3958.0.html

A Guide For Creating an AVI File From a DVD.Using Auto GK --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,2453.0.html

For making KVCD's there is an excellent tutorial in the index Video Tutorial How to Make a KVCD + APPS (UKB-KvCD by KingBen666) (EXT) --> http://www.h33t.com/details.php?id=9470de36f3609695265b469c5c157e8490490d4d

-Now you have a video (hopefully) and it's time to prepare the files for upload and your description.

DESCRIPTION

A great description has the following items:

*-  Cover Image
*-  Narrative about the content
*-  Quality information about the content
*-  Screenshots (for video)

1. Cover image

You can scan your own if it's available or just get one thats already scanned.
The best place to find covers is http://www.mega-search.net/
Google images and home sites for the video are also great sources.

(hosting is covered down in step 5)

2.  Narrative about the content

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) --> The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) and Wikipedia --> www.wikipedia.org/ have a wealth of information.  You can also visit the home site for the movie or studio that made the movie.

3. Quality information about the content

Your description needs quality data (at a minimum, resolution and fps).  There are two methods to get your video information that i've seen.

GSpot and Media Info

a. GSpot Guide --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,2948.0.html

b.  Media Info --> http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/

MediaInfo: how to find video or audio file quality information --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,8837.0.html

4. Screenshots (for video)

There are manual methods (print screen button) and applications to do the work for you.

Media Player Classic can be found here --> http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli

auto - How to make "Thumbnail Screenshots" using Media Player Classic http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,6514.0.html

manual - How to create a screenshot --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,2756.0.html

5. Image Hosting

Now you have your images and need to find a place to host them so you can add them to your description.

Photobucket (requires registration) but allows you to manage your albums; and imageshack.us are very popular.

There are many other sources:

Free Image Hosts - no registration required --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,2199.0.html

MAKE AN INFORMATION FILE FOR YOUR UPLOAD

Now that you have all your information, put it together into an informaton file to include with your video and to use for your description.

How to make a .nfo file with a .nfo generator --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php?topic=3170.0

For h33t purposes use an "info.txt" or "mymovieupload.txt" (named however you want) as opposed to an actual .NFO file.  (many users don't know how to open or use them)

Create your NFO with a builder and copy the information into a notepad text file.

You can also create the text file without an automated application.  Use a text editor like notepad and just copy your title, narrative, video quality information, and any other text information about the upload you'd like to add into a file.  Then name it and save as a .txt file.

Save it and add a copy to your upload folder.

Keep a copy in another location for editing purposes. You may want to add the hash file or other information later.  You can't do it to the one that the .torrent is being created from or it will corrupt the torrent.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

1. Make a folder that you will use for your .torrent upload.

Name it Exactly as your .torrent will be named i.e. "mymovieupload DvDRip Xvid Mp3 [h33t][me]"

2. Put your video in that folder

3. Put copies of your cover images in the folder

4. Put a copy of the "tracked_by_h33t_com.txt" file (found on the upload page) in the folder

5. Put a copy of your Info.txt file in the folder.

MAKING THE TORRENT

At this point, you should have your video, images, description, and folder together.

The h33t tracker announce is: http://www.h33t.com:3310/announce and will be added to the tracker box in your client when you make the .torrent.

Torrents: Creating, Seeding and the rest HOW TO --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,57.0.html

How to creating torrent file with Utorrent --> http://fr33sp33k.h33t.com/index.php/topic,2765.15.html

DO NOT SAVE THE .torrent in your new upload folder.  Make a folder or use an existing folder somewhere else.

Now that you've created the .torrent from that folder you CANNOT move, add, delete, or modify it's contents.

There is a Hash file (alphanumerical data file) assigned to identify your torrent contents and any manipulation will corrupt the .torrent.

UPLOADING TO H33T

Go to the main site http://h33t.com/index.php

You MUST be logged in to upload.

Go to the upload page http://h33t.com/upload.php by clicking -->

- Torrent File: The first line is the .torrent.  Use the "choose" feature and browse to where you saved the .torrent.

- Category:  Choose what you are uploading from the dropdown list.  Movie for this example.

- File Name:  The file name should be the name of the folder (now you see why I said to name it like the torrent would be)  mymovieupload DvDRip Xvid Mp3 [h33t][me]

- Description:

Add your "dress up" images like "h33t presents" .gif if you have them.

Add your torrent title first "mymovieupload DvDRip Xvid Mp3 [h33t][me]"

Add the image code or the url of your hosted cover with [img] tags.

Add the information from your Info.txt file to include your narrative and quality information.

Add your screenshots via image code or the url of your hosted cover image with [img] tags.

Add any other notes about the release or information you would like to include.

You can put your "keep seeding" graphics or h33t specific .gifs or whatever you'd like to "dress up" your description.

- Image Code:  Enter the Numbers and Letters from the picture into the box provided.

Click Confirm

Now your torrent will go to the Moderation area to be checked out by the torrent moderators.

Once approved, your torrent will appear in the h33t index.

If there is a problem or something is missing, it will be rejected and you will receive a pm from the moderator telling you what is wrong and what needs to be done to fix it.

PROPAGATION

Now that you've uploaded to h33t and you are seeding your torrent, go to http://www.mininova.org/ and choose "upload", "upload a .torrent" from the top banner and follow the instrucitons to add your torrent there.  The format is similar to uploading at h33t.

If you are a member of any other public sites or forums, add your torrent there.

There are a couple more sites you can add to also:
http://torrentportal.com/
http://btjunkie.org/

http://thepiratebay.org/ is also an option.  In the past you would have to make another torrent and add their tracker as primary, but if I read correctly, TPB now injects it's tracker to uploads that do not contain it.  Try it out.  I haven't got that far yet.

Feel free to ask or mention anything I may have missed or that you don't understand up to this point.  I will make changes and improve as necessary.

Thank you very much for this great tutorial! Though I did not see it before I started to upload my first torrents the information is and remains very valuable.  ;D

There are a couple of points for which I would like to add some comments since it may be useful for the sake of accuracy.  :D

1. Make a folder that you will use for your .torrent upload.
Name it Exactly as your .torrent will be named i.e. "mymovieupload DvDRip Xvid Mp3 [h33t][me]"

You may name it exactly the same but it is not a compulsory prerequisite, though in almost all the torrents it has been done like that. Personally I prefer to give a meaningful name (describing in short the content) to the folder (which will be created / proposed for every torrent client dl) and to leave aside tags like [h33t] [me] and so on which IMO do not add any benefit as folder name except making it sometimes very long. Of course it's a matter of personal choice but the point is, the name of the folder containing the torrent files which will be uploaded must not match the name of the *.torrent file.

5. Put a copy of your Info.txt file in the folder.

Again of course a question of personal preference but I would rather advise not to put any info.txt file into the torrent folder since any change in the content of the folder would alter the hash checksum and thus corrupting the torrent. Rather I think it's better to keep this information outside of the file folder so one can edit the content at any time without corrupting anything. For instance I create a info folder and a tracker folder parallel to the torrent file folder where I put all the stuff in. I like to use http://www.torrenteditor.com to edit my *.torrent files if needed and thus it becomes clear what can be changed without altering the hash and what not. Often I notice some errors later or I simply want to improve the information quality so that way it can easily be done afterwards whenever needed.

http://thepiratebay.org/ is also an option.  In the past you would have to make another torrent and add their tracker as primary, but if I read correctly, TPB now injects it's tracker to uploads that do not contain it.  Try it out.  I haven't got that far yet.

Yes indeed it's a very good question and I am not sure about the answer yet because I simply created several *.torrent files with the trackers in a different order (and a blank line in between, very important) and I used the one for piratebay with the piratebay tracker on the top line. [NB: It's like the information that piratebay would not accept *.txt files as music or audio upload, this apparently was the case before but is definitely not the case anymore yet. (I have done it and it worked perfectly.)] Next time I will use a *.torrent with several trackers but the piratebay's one not being in top and I will report here...

I hope these few comments will be of help.  :)

The first point is so that you have your title correct and don't forget your h33t and name tag.  Those of us loyal to h33t don't need tags for anyplace else.  H33t is where it all begins and ends for us.

It's best to have 1 central folder to keep all your actual .torrent files located.  I call mine "Release Torrents".  It also serves as a backup.  If you lose that folder or your client history folder, you can easily copy all your torrents back without having to redownload them.

If you look at the order of the tutorial, you'll see that I put the Info.txt into the file folder "BEFORE" creating the torrent.  How do you think people get their info.txt/readme/NFO's in there?

I forgot to update, but it is indeed true that TPB injects their tracker announce for you.  There is no need to make more than 1 torrent.

Make your h33t torrent and go upload it to TPB without problems. :)

I'd just suggest where you have :

Now that you've created the .torrent from that folder you CANNOT move, add, delete, or modify it's contents

you also add :     Don't even open or play any files in this folder, it could cause your upload to hang at 99.9% and never complete.

elsewise a beaut tut, thanks  ;D

Those of us loyal to h33t don't need tags for anyplace else.  H33t is where it all begins and ends for us.

Well it's a point of view I respect but sorry to tell you that I have another one.  8)  I don't feel like not being loyal by announcing also my torrents at other places. Besides to me it can be considered as backup (who is giving me the guarantee that the h33t site will always been up an running at every time in the future?) as well as a mean to have a bigger swarm.

If you look at the order of the tutorial, you'll see that I put the Info.txt into the file folder "BEFORE" creating the torrent.  How do you think people get their info.txt/readme/NFO's in there?

Maybe I did not express myself clearly but that is not what I intended to say. Of course you put your info.txt file in the folder which will be hashed and exactly because of this you may not edit the information within it later if needed. For this reason I prefer to have it outside the folder so no question of before or after here...  8)  I hope it makes sense now.   :)

I forgot to update, but it is indeed true that TPB injects their tracker announce for you.  There is no need to make more than 1 torrent.

Ok so that point has been cleared now. Thank you!

you also add :     Don't even open or play any files in this folder, it could cause your upload to hang at 99.9% and never complete.

Well technically speaking if the files are not altered there should be no problem at all. It may be a risk tough because some application like to change the files without any asking nor warning. But if you replace exactly the same content there (of course one should have a backup) and do a forced recheck then all should finish well.

I did it for someone who needed it.

If you benefit from it, then good for you.

If you don't, then ignore it.

Have a Nice Day :)
